- In the breed the most successful exhibitor/handler at Crufts is between Eric & John Richie, who won Reserve Best in Show, with his bitch SH.CH. Dykebar Future Glory.
- Eric bred/owned the last Show Champion/(ISDS) International Sheep Dog Society registered Border Collie. SH.CH. Rosehurst No NZ Is Good News.
- The top Border Collie 2010 is American Champion SH.CH. Avatar One Nite Standbayshore - Co owner/handler
- In his early years, Eric professionally handled for all of the big German Shepherd kennels, including: Miss Elizabeth Moncrief of Moncrief Kennels, Lady Fairburn's Kennels, Joyce Wilson; better known as the authoress Joyce Stranger (who wrote 'Two's Company'), Gorsefield Kennels, Druidswood, Kennels and, Norwolf Kennels, making up over 20 champions.
- In the late 1980's Eric bred INT.CH. Rosehurst Chris the top winning German Shepherd in the 1990's only to be beaten by his son CH. Gayvilles Nilo, who gained over 50CC.
- Eric handled the first Belgian Shepherd to be awarded BOB at Crufts and consequently made up a further 4 Belgian Shepherd Champions, including a BEST IN SHOW at Working Breeds of Wales Championship Show.
- Two Briards have been made into Champions by Eric.
Judging

Eric holds the Border Collie breed record for awarding the most Challenge Certificates, his record stands at 14.
- Helen holds the record entries made at The Working & Pastoral Breeds Open Show (Border Collies) an entry of 72 exhibits including all other breeds at the show, impressive when you realise the show has been held over the last 100 years.
- Eric has judged Crufts twice.
- Eric has judged in Russia, Germany, Malta and Finland.
- Eric & Helen were voted by the members of the Border Collie Club of GB to be the first husband and wife team to judge their championship show.
- Eric & Helen were invited to judge the Border Collie Club of Finland Silver Jubilee Show.
- Eric & Helen have judged various breed at open show level.
- Eric is a Kennel Club evaluator of championship show judges.

Other Interests
- Eric is show manager for Manchester Championship Show with over 11,000 exhibits
- Eric is a full member of the Kennel Club.
- Eric has retired from being a Nutritional Consultant for Nestle Purina for 20 years
- Eric & Helen have been proprioters of a boarding kennels and cattery for over 35 years (40 dogs/20 cats).
- Guide Dogs for the Blind gave Eric and Helen the contract to care for their guide dogs whilst the new kennel block at Bolton was being built.
- Eric had his own security business and trained all his own security dogs to a very high standard, he was also instrumental as an advisor to the government body that set up the Guard Dog Act.
- Eric was chosen by Manchester City Council to teach dog training at their Parrs Wood Rural Studies College, which he did for a great number of years.
- Eric has done photo-shoots for various companies including, Purina and Beta dog food bags.
(In the days before digital cameras, so the dogs and cats were in situ, you didn't know whether you had got the right shot until the next day, when the film arrived back from the lab!).
- Eric was involved in the 'Happy Mondays' first ever pop video with Shaun Ryder.
- Eric has done radio interviews for Susie Mathis and Harvey Locke - President-Elect, British Veterinary. Association.
- Helen and Eric are honorary members of Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue.
